The rest of their output is about as far removed from glam as you can get, but their '88 effort Cold Lake alienated a lot of their core fanbase and failed to win over a commercial audience in the way they might have hoped.

However, it's a great song and the album is one of the most unique I've ever heard. The attitude and imagery can definetly be placed in the glam/sleaze category, just a shade darker than many of their contempories.

The band laments releasing the album and chose not to remaster it with the rest of their catologue- so it's nearly out of print. Check ebay, as copies show up sometimes if you're interested.

In the early days (1984-86(?))they were kind of a thrashy-proto black metal act, very heavy, fast with deepish raspy vocals.

1987 they released Into The Pandemonium which was a very diverse expermiental album. It still had the raspy vocals (with a little more restraint), but ventured more into other genres of music including 80's rap/electronica, funk, classical and opera. They briefly disbanded and returned with a revised lineup for Cold Lake.

They toned down the vocals, and went for a glamish image, but it's still one of the heaviest glam albums I've heard. The music could be described as light thrash.

Vanity Nemesis is pretty much a straightfoward thrash album with remenents of the Cold Lake sound here and there. Tom still uses his clean vox on this one.

Little Velvet (A cold lake song from The Live At the Hammersmith odeon) (Quite readily avaliable in the UK at least on VHS.)

(A song from Vanity/Nemesis) They still had a similar image at this point. Check the LA Guns shirt!

Some raw early footage from '86 of 'Dethroned Emperor

They're still going, but I'm not too keen on their new stuff. Too slow and sludgy/ gothic.

    Blowyourspeakers, check this link out.

It tells you how to add youtube videos your post instead of using weblinks. Looks so much better and bound to get more attention and comments.

There's quite a few bands that have gone through phases like this that make regular fans go WTF when they find out about it.

Loved "To Mega Therion" and "Into the Pandemonium". I laugh at their version of "Mexican Radio" it is even better than the original. These guys might not have been exactly glam but they were awesome anyways. Had alot of textures and layers on their music. Plus they sing about heroic shit which I think is always great."- RockLibertyWarrior

If I'm in the mood for hard and trashy/thrashy this band iz the way to go. Nice sound, just not for every day on my count.
