Yeah, I definitely love new wave and gothic rock. Maybe because I consider myself first as a goth ^^'''
anyway, I love bands such as The Cure, Joy Division, and any band sounds new wave or goth fro those years. The I like also some metal bands just like Manowar, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer (not too much), Stratovarius (they started in 1989 in I'm not wrong) and so on...I can't think of them all xD

Anything with loud guitars and lot's of shouting, so anything from Glam rock, to just rock, and then more than a little of old fashioned heavy metal. Even some Punk here and there, like Black Flag and such. Oh, and Stormtroopers Of Death is classic!

I love The Cure. I saw them three times in the 80s. I even travelled with some friends to Paris to see them at the Bercy Centre. An unforgettable night!!!!! And I saw them on my 28th birthday in '89,too. Though I thought they were better in Paris, and the audience was wild.

Right on fellow rock brigade! I am with you there, music on the whole in the 80's was better across the whole spectrum, even some pop and country as mentioned before. There was alot of cool one hit wonders. Love the Cure, Joy Division, Alien Sex Fiend ect. I grew up with all that stuff, like I have said my dad was in a glam band so as a kid I was exposed to music all the time and of all types. Music was always on, on vinyl, the radio, Mtv when it was cool and I was exposed to all of this. Still my first love is glam rock, there is just something so liberating and beautiful about it, I'd even saw that as a child in the 80's. There was a certain vibe back then thats missing now, the 80's were just crazy insane due to the drug use our parents and grandparents put their bodies and minds through, things just came a little unhooked and wild. Not saying drug use is good but we need some of that wildness back nowadays things are just plain boring and they suck. Sorry if I sound like a Luddite.

80s is my favorite decade for both music and movies. Besides 80s hardrock/glam, I like thrash metal like early Megadeth/Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, Slayer, etc. etc. Also like loads of AOR like Survivor, Journey, Mr Mister. Even a lot of pop music. Synths just sounded different in the 80s.

Can't stress enough how over all music was pretty good, there was a certain vibe as I have said, shit even the pop music wasn't too bad. It was fun free and careless now I get the impression every jerk with hands and a mouth starts a music project to be cynical and holier than thou. People take themselves to seriously in this day in age.

    - Pretty_Boy_Catt

    FUCK YES
I love Bad Religion so very much! Like not only do they write the most significant and intelligent lyrics, but OH the way they harmonise just kills me. They're such great singers. I'm a long-time choir nerd so I of all people can appreciate a good harmony!

I'm livin' in the 70s, I feel like I've lost my keys
I got the right day, got the wrong week

Some other 80's music I forgot to mention that I like: George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Jimmie Vaughan, Georgia Satellites, Hank Williams Jr., Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp I know guys kind of lame. Not to shit on you poisonfan5 but I think you misunderstood the topic, I said 80's music besides glam not modern day emo, metal or punk. Although I do dig some of the bands you listed. :)

I actually don't mind some songs from bullet for my valentine, like 4 words to choke upon, spit you out, 10 years today. They remind me of a Thrash band, pretty cool. Parkway Drive I like a couple songs like Pandora and Black Out, they aren't my favorites, I like bullet better. Still love the 80's more though, most new bands can't hold a candle to the original rockers.

yeh bullets new stuff has better guitar riffs(waking the demon). but eh, the newer stuff i listen to is better then 80's in my opinion. but its all turning out like the 80's where everyone is copying everyone else. thats what makes me sick about glamrock

In my opinion and this is just my opinion most new stuff sucks dick. I give everything two chances and then if it doesn't meet my high standards then it is chucked in the garbage bin. There is only a handful of bands I like, in the 70's and 80's bands put out consistently good stuff, now your lucky if you can get half a album full of good songs from a artist. Bullet is a example, though I like them the songs I listed are the only ones I halfway like. I have high standards and I don't eschew stuff thats new on purpose, if my standards are met then I like the band regardless of the genre its in. As the years have gone by I've been very disappointed with bands, it used be where I consistently bought albums and was surprised and/or satisfied with the end result. Now barely at all am I either surprised and/or satisfied. It seems most bands try to shit out one single and put filler on the rest of the album. Thats just me and maybe my standards are too high or outdated but I don't care thats what they are and will continue to be. The radio is a good meter of the current state of affairs, for one hour I'll listen to the station that has all new rock and for the most part that one hour is pure fucking torture. But I just don't go by the radio, I go also through word of mouth and search on the internet, most times I am disappointed. Too much of perfectionist I guess.

ehhh i disagree kinda. the neq stuff is enjoyable. and TONS of albums in 80's had fillers. you just might be listening to ones that didnt. i aint gonna get 2 worked up, but wtf?

Dude nothing to get worked about it. There is no right or wrong in musical opinion, when it comes to tastes everything is subjective. What I like I know everybody else isn't going to like, if people like hip hop, modern music etc. then good for them. Most bands out of any era suck, but I am just counting the ones where stuff was consistent. I was raised with hard rock and heavy metal, my dad was in a glam band and I was around in the 80's. I listened to tons of music because I was exposed to it and I stress it again because this is my opinion and I just didn't listen to popular or good bands, I was exposed to mostly demos and unpopular stuff as well so I wasn't jut listening to albums with stuff that had as you put it "the ones that didn't". The 70's and 80's bands put out consistently good stuff, for the most part there was alot of stinkers. To be fair there was no internet or mp3 format around back then, a band had to try to make a whole album worth stuff that was good so it would sell. Now it is about the single and bands aren't encouraged to put out a record worth of stuff by the companies, thats not true in every case. I don't get worked up about this stuff because different people have different opinions in music. Whatever your tastes are, cool dude.

I love 80s pop together with my rock/glam fetish. That includes Kim Wilde, Depeche Mode, Eighth Wonder, T'Pau and Alisha.

I tend to go for bands with guitars, keyboards and female vocals.
