I recently read that Mick Tucker and Andy Scott from Sweet wrote some songs for a band called Angel back around 1974. I originally thought this must be the Angel that was sort of created as a counterpoint to Kiss, but it turns out it was a different band altogether - one from the U.K. I looked it up online and kind of recognized the logo. The band evidently recorded one album, then disappeared into obscurity. Now they've reformed and have reissued their CD with some live cuts. I ordered it in the mail and look forward to checking it out. It supposedly sounded so much like Sweet that some people thought it was Sweet performing under a pseudonym. Has anyone else heard of this band?

I ordered the CD from http://www.sweetangelblockbuster.webs.com/ - but I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Heard some of the tunes on YouTube and liked them, so I ordered the entire album.

CD arrived in the mail today. Recording quality isn't the best (at times, it sounds like it was recorded onto CD off an old vinyl album), but the tunes rock. You can hear why a lot of people thought these guys were Sweet in disguise. Album consists of 8 album cuts and 6 cuts from a 2005 reunion concert. Best on the album, in my opinion, is "Tragedy Queen."
