Errrr, I think it was Juice Newton.

If that's what you're thinking then that song is in the same class as Olivia Newton John :-(

No I think he means "who did the remake of the song".

The only decent remakes I have heard were "Come Together" (originally by The Beatles) done by Aerosmith and "No Matter What" (originally by Badfinger) done by Def Leppard.

Well my 'research' tells me that Merrilee Rush and the Turnouts, recorded it second, but first popular recording in 1968, Jamaican singer Joya Landis recorded a 'rockteady'(whatever that means) version also in 68, Nina Simone recorded the song in 1971, then Juice Newton got a grammy nom. in 1981, Chip Taylor, has himself also released a version of the song (writer and composer of the song). The short-lived British girl band Thunderbugs recorded a fresh, upbeat version of the song in their 1999 debut (and only) album. The song was performed live by Chrissie Hynde in a 1995 installment of Friends titled "The one with the baby on the bus", and to further confuse....Versions include:

    1967 by Evie Sands
1968 by Merrilee Rush and the Turnabouts Bell Records
    1968 by Joya Landis
    1968 by Percy Faith
1968 by I Profeti (in Italian)
    1968 by P.P. Arnold
    1968 by Ray Conniff
    1969 by Skeeter Davis
    1969 by Bettye Swann
    1970 by Connie Eaton
    1971 by Nina Simone
    1973 by Olivia Newton-John
1977 by Merrilee Rush re-recorded for United Artists Records
    1977 by Guys n' Dolls
1977 by Mary Mason ("Angel of the Morning - Any Way That You Want Me)
    1978 by Melba Montgomery
    1978 by Pat Kelly
1981 by Elisabeth Andreassen, in the Angel of the Morning album
    1981 by Juice Newton
    1987 by The Tremeloes
    1995 by The Pretenders
    1998 by Bonnie Tyler
    1999 by Thunderbugs
    2002 by Maggie Reilly
    2003 by The Shocker
2006 by Lalo y los descalzos (in Spanish)
    2007 by Girlyman
    2007 by Jill Johnson

so i guess the question now is WHO DIDN'T RECORD IT! HA HA

We lived through your discussion about your sister, her friends and their bare titties...so I guess you can handle someone talking about a song they were curious about...maybe people think you have some kind of insight.

Maybe i need to clarify, this version I am looking for was done by a metal singer not some wimpy easy listening singer, it was really cool. I had it on a tape(showing my age just a bit) and lost the tape. It was recorded off the radio so it was in the popular stream for a short period. It was not even all original. I think it had a different title. Some of the words were different but the chorus was the same as the original. It would seem kinda silly for me to join a forum about glam rock to ask a lame ass question not related to rock. So again sorry to annoy or offend ill just hush up now and go browse other topics. And thanks to the ones who tried to help its most appreciated.

Try downloading the song's name from a file-sharing program. You'll come up with the song and a list of different prformers. Hope that helps.
