Hey mafiaprincess and welcome to GlamRock.com (are you Italian too?)
You won't get nothing other than praise and jubilation for your opinion here. And while the current day music industry continues to churn out manufactured shit like hip hop and R&B, it will feed every type of musical movement/genre from the past including glam.
Just one word if I may. It don't bother me too much but alot of people get offended when you type in UPPERCASE. It's as though you are SHOUTING at them. Type uppercase and BOLD, and it's doubly worse.
I don't want to put you off because I want you to come back and tell me if you are Italian or not, but please, type in lowercase.

today's music ain't nothin' to brag about...there are some good musicians out there...but nothing as fun as the glam days.

Listening to todays Top 100 is the most brutal torture any prisoner of war can suffer.

Today's "popular" music sucks. It seems that everyone is just saying they like the "popular" music to fit in. The 80's and 90's will always be the best musical period for this type of music.

Paul McCartney has been around since the sixties.
Very popular and still rocks.
Some of the newly signed musicians are really good. (Daniel Powter is a brilliant new talent).
Some are wannabes who can't cut it.
Some of this hardcore metal is just a headache waiting to happen.
There are exceptions to every rule."I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam. The skirt was so short, my undercart hung beneath the hem. I thought it best to keep my underwear on"-Steve PriestPosted 4 years ago # -

I have to agree there's a lot of garbage out today that's passing for music. But if you look hard enough there's some really good stuff out there too. It just takes longer to find it today than it did 20 years ago.
But that's typical for music. Every generation or two dislikes the music from the next one. Our parents disliked our music, their parents didn't think much of their music either. I'm sure our children won't like the stuff their children listen to either.

Yeh, it's sad to think that theres no inovation or pioneering.
There are some bands that grab your attention for a bit, but the quality and depth just don't cut it.
And it's even harder to find talent that passes the test of time these days.
Everything seems to be dispensable, sorry to say even the music scene of late.
Oh well, lets hope theres some Good Riffs at the end of the tunnel.Posted 4 years ago # -
It's not all bad it's just evolved. Thats how the world works.

as an 18 year old girl in England...i should be all.."oh 50 Cent....oh Gym Class Heroes", etc...but i'm here....Music isn't music anymore...that is why England really got rid of TOTP...because it wasn't pulling in the audience it used to in the 60s, 70s and 80s....but they're sneaky little twonks...they think i don't notice the last 5 minutes being allotted to todays bands when i'm watching TOTP2..which is supposed to be the greats of Yesteryears....and come christmas...it returns with whatever baloney is fighting for the christmas no. 1....whatever happened to christmas TOTP being dedicated to the greats of the year..with Nazi bassists....etc???

I don't think it's ALL crap as I mean you'll still find some good bands.. they're just less well known.

Artists now are like the presidential candidates, far and few between are saying anything valid and needed.
If I want to listen to a ton of crap I can just go and listen to some politician, that would be more enjoyable than some of the artists lately.crunchybones - nice avatar picture!

I entirely agree that mainstream music has completely turn to crap.
However, all it takes to remedy that is a look at more underground acts.
whether you like Glam,Hard Rock, Metal, there are tons of interesting bands still releasing quality albums.
The problem? Most of these bands are completely ignored by Radio and MTV, leaving you to try and find them on your own.
To make matters worse, most of these bands are signed to tiny labels with poor distribution.
The effort is definitely worth you while though.

douchebags ruined the music industry.

Music doesnt suck, maybe the mainstream these days and the manufactured crap and pop idol idiots but there are some great bands out there. You just need to look alot harder than you used to. Theres even some great glam/sleaze bands such as crashdiet and hardcore superstar. Myspace and Amazon.com are great for finding new bands, some with labels and some are just local bands but unless people start looking for them and demanding them there not going to get very far. Its all great sitting back and listing to the old vinyl and reminising, but those days are pretty much gone. maybe its time to change it?

...John Lennon's son, Sean, is an excellent talent. I went to see him live. So is Daniel Powter. There is too much noise...in the form of loud beats... these days coming out of car windows. Not enough to actually listen to. Just a lot of noise. I don't get how people enjoy that. My son listens to hardcore metal. It's all SCREAMING! Just people screaming! I tried (god knows I have tried) to understand the words. I just cannot hear any words. he gets that though. He can figure out the words. My 20 year old daughter likes Simon and Garfunkel. (Just when I thought young people today didn't appreciate music.) I went with her to a Silverstein concert. Just to be fair, I expose her to the music from my generation...I should experience some of hers. I went. It was loud. It was okay for the first 30 minutes then I fell asleep. I fucking fell asleep. I guess you can be too old...lol.

Ugh... I always hated crap like Silverstein, although Simon&Garfunkel kick ass!
Yeah, I said Simon&Garfunkek KICK ASS!
Anyway I have really diverse tastes, but modern mainstream music makes me want to throw up or cry!
To each their own though.
