Remember the song "Walk Away Renee" and "Pretty Ballerina"?"I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam. The skirt was so short, my undercart hung beneath the hem. I thought it best to keep my underwear on"-Steve PriestPosted 4 years ago # -
I was just a little kid when they were hot...they weren't around long. Amazing sound, though. I was part of a Yahoo group about them about 6 years ago.

Hi Syndrome, I'm in the process of copying over my Facebook onto MySpace so I'll let you know what that's all done.
None of those songs ring a bell nor does the band name and looking at their MySpace draws a complete blank.
Thanks for the info,

70s were my high school years. Born in '62 and lived the 80s as a young adult playing in glam band when in 85' illness ground that to a halt. Then marriage interfered in pursuing my lifestyle, then children and now I'm back doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
You didn't ask for my life story but I thought I'd give you a brief overview anyways.

Glamster...
I'm a year older than you. I was a young teenager in the '70s...as were you. The Left Banke was a band from about 1966. I used to hear "Walk Away Renee" on the car radio. Ever since then I have loved the Left Banke. Your life story is very interesting and certainly not dull. I was a "wild child" in the early eighties. Then I had kids...had to become normal...now I'm 46 and wishing I were a teenager again."I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam. I don't think The Left Banke had any impact on the Australian charts, as i too have never heard of them. But if Cindy thinks they're cool, I'm going to try and download some of their stuff. I Googled them and read that they sounded more closer to The Beatles & Beach Boys.
TRIVIA: Apparently Michael McKean was a session player on some their material!! I hope you guys know who Michael is???

Yeah I know who Michael is. But The Left Banke were nothing like the Beach Boys. They were like a classical/pop mix. They had a great sound. I have their song as my profile song. Take a listen.

Did you know that Steve Tyler from Aerosmith sat in and sang backup on some of their stuff? He's a huge Left Banke fan. The lead singer's name is Steve Martin Caro, but his name in the band was just "Steve Martin" He had an amazing voice which was responsible for their sound.
I've put an old video up for everyone to check out if they want: http://www.myspace.com/sweetstevep"I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam.
