So who do you all think are the next coming up big glam stars? I have seen some interesting bands/artists that have claimed they are glam, but I just don't see it. I see more of being inspired by glam, but not true glam anymore. :(

I haven't followed the glam scene as much recently although I imagine Vains of Jenna might fall into that category.

The Darkness had it going on for a while, but they broke up due to drugs & internal bullsh*t - but 2 awesome albums are their legacy.

Wig Wam from Norway have put out 2 absolutely brilliant glam/pop rock albums in the last couple of years

You will all have to fill me in on what New Glam is. For me it ended when Kiss unmasked. I realize about all the 80s glam metal stuff, but I am talking real, original glam. I haven't kept up well with any current scene, so I am open to what is going on.

So in other words, they are self loathing "Glam" Metal musicians, with an emphasis on the Metal.
I mean really, musically, what is called "Emo" these days IS Hair Metal....whereas New Wave music actually had the balls to really be androgynous and follow their Glam and Punk roots, rather than cover the Glam look with macho posturing.
I'm not trying to defend modern "Emo" music(although I like some of the looks), but I like the original "Emocore" stuff like Fugazi, and most of todays "Emo" has nothing to do with it...but they somehow got good hairstyles and makeup fromboth the Wavers and Goth(another *direct* descendent of Glam).

New Glam is exactly what it says on the tin..Tigerlily...it's bands that you see, either trying to act glam or bring it back...with some similar elements to the original gods and masters.
whether they're actually good or not, is our discussion.

    Yeah......... I liked them...........

I haven't a clue about new glam........ maybe Lordi (which have been around), have heard people call Slipknot glam (bullshit), and there really isn't that much to speak of available.........

    Ah!
    sounds like a good mix...
...although I've always rejected the "indie" name as a "genre", because all it means is that a band is signed to an "independent" record label, and it's usually stuck to Postpunk Psychedelic bands...but anyway, I'm digressing like crazy, and I usually love Postpunk Psychedelia....so...

I'll have to look them up!

hmmm well i think the new glam bands are bands like mindless self indulgence

or i think the new glam rockers are people like jeffrey star or davey havok

and the new styles that i think are glam influenced is a stlye called "scene" and "emo"

Emo is definately not glam. They have some of the makeup elements to them, but the style is different, and the music is horribly depressing and kind of creepy. 30 Seconds to Mars makes me want to hide in a closet.

Just checked out Dirty Penny, totally killer band. Loving the song I'm hearing. They look fucking awesome, as well.

Just thought I'd throw We Are The Fury into the ring, since the other thread about new glam bands got deleted. They're a great glam band with more of a softer David Bowie feel to them. They're opening for New York Dolls currently, I believe, if you question their legitamancy. You can find the music video for "Now You Know" up on youtube if you want to check them out. Great song, great band.

Also loving Crashdiet and Vain of Jenna as well!

They are not necessarily *New* but i just saw the Sweden band Fatal Smile that was on tour with Doro last month when they came thru Dallas/Ft. Worth..and baby, that band kicked my ass!! They remind me sooo much of what was going on in the DFW area and the states in the late 80's and early 90's...Europe never lost it, we just did. Not only do these boyz deliver on stage, their all pretty hottt!! Go look...FatalSmile.com or can be found on myspace music. :) :)

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Lordi yet. They have an 80s glam sound to them, and they've gotten pretty fucking big lately.

This other Finnish band, Twilightning also has sort of an 80s hard rock/glam sound to them. They used to be power metal, but slowly started changing their style to more of an 80s hard rock sound. Their last album isn't really good though, especially since they ditched their keyboardist, but their first two albums are the shit.
