    It's been bothering me and I wish I could find peace by someone answering this question for me. Do you think Marilyn Manson falls under this category? If they do then they must be the most prominent ones under this category.

    I think glam could have influenced him, but I don't necessarily think of him as glam. I tend to think of him as more dark and towards the twisted side, maybe more like eccentric?

    I don't tend to listen to that stuff very much. I do have a NewlyDeads album with Taime Downe leading them, and a few other things, but by and large it's not a big fave of mine.

    That's what my view was. Any era of Glam was basically commercial, ranked on the popular music charts like Billboard. I don't know if the 'ghoulish' rock bands ever rate on those charts but I've never heard them on mainstream radio but I hear Livin' On A Prayer almost every day on the radio.

    I think Marilyn Manson is entirely just "shock rock". I mean look at him. Who wouldn't be shocked to look at that?

    I thought Alice Cooper had a monopoly on 'shock rock'? and when Ozzy was chewing off bats heads, ke was also kinda there.

    Marilyn Manson goes alot deeper than shock rock and maybe more towards horror.

    Maybe I'm being too simplistic because you don't need to be depressed, wear black and have a spiders web tattooed on the back of your neck to qualify as a goth.

    He never did that. It's just some stupid rumour posted on the internet. Read his book. Unfortunately, he is perceived in such a way that idiots believe that he would do such a thing.
