I tried this thread out under the glam rock forum and it's doing pretty good. So let's try this...

THE AWESOME 80s! So MUCH GREAT MUSIC! To me, the last decade of GREAT music. Some of the younger souls here may only remember the overplayed classics like Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran" or Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen"...But there was SOOOOOOOO much more. Even from the mainstream acts.

So let's try it. I'll recommend a forgotten, little-known, should've-been-bigger, B-side, or favorite song from the 80s...And you return the favor. I'm sure there are some I missed in my own youth...

    Post the videos or samples.

I'm kicking it off with two bands known for their radio hits "I'm Alive"(Love & Rockets) and "Need You Tonight"(INXS) -- But try out these lesser known tunes:

    LOVE & ROCKETS

    INXS

Cheers to you too, Retroman. Couldn't check out the first vid here 'cause Sony Music blocked it. :x

Let me know who it was. Heard the Lisa & Wendy tune before - very good! Tears for Fears is one of my favorite bands! Check out my favorite from them:

TEARS FOR FEARS - "PALE SHELTER"

    Here's another great one:

PETER SCHILLING - "THE DIFFERENT STORY"

I see now: It was Trance Dance...

For some reason the title didn't show up. Now it's there...

Now I tried it on YouTube...

And now I thank you for the recommendation. Very cool!

    GOD I MISS THE 80s!

I miss the 80s too but as I've spent many years collecting media I still get to live it any day I wish :)

Here's another classic from the 80s:

Here's some more great tunes from the 80s:

**The Divinyls -- always remembered for the song "I Touch Myself" They have older songs that blow that one away! For example:

**Love and Rockets -- I posted one from them before. FelicityClarity posted their cover of "Ball of Confusion"(great cover!)...Glad to see I'm not the only one that remembers them! Here's my second favorite from them:

**Peter Murphy -- former lead singer of 80s goth band Bauhaus(with the members of Love & Rockets). His solo stuff was great too! Here's one that was released in '89.

And speaking of Bauhaus and great covers...Here's their awesome cover of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust":

A-HA: Everybody remembers the band A-ha because of their iconic 80's hit "Take On Me". Classic, definitely...But the title track from the album that featured "Take On Me" was a million times better! Here's "Hunting High and Low" from Hunting High and Low. :D

ALPHAVILLE: This band recently had one of their classic tunes, "Forever Young", raped by rapper Jay Z! They were an amazing synth-band! Try these, starting with the aforementiond rape victim:

RED ROCKERS: Not to be confused with the 'Red Rocker'/Sammy Hagar! These guys were a one-hit wonder, but it was a great hit!

SPLIT ENZ: They were basically another one-hit wonder. The members went off to form other bands, including Crowded House. Here's their big hit:
