Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car accident. The hospital had to reattach his left arm. At first, it was called a success. Later on, they detected an infection in his arm. The doctors feared a spread of the infection, and were left with no other way but to amputate Allen's left arm. He still plays the drums for Def Leppard, Rock On!

His right arm had so much cartilage and nerve damage that the doctors did not think he would ever use it again. Luckily after a lot of surgery it was repaired. They even were doubtful about him using it after surgery. They were not sure he would ever even be able to wave. One day he came back to the hospital, waving and grinning going, "Hiya Doc!" With a lot of therapy his right arm became strong again.
