Intro (Edit)

A distinctive screeching vocal with southern metal melodies is Dangerous Toys’ stock in trade. They had some minor success with their first two sex obsessed albums, and was able to tour with Alice Cooper, Judas Priest and Motorhead in the Operation Rock & Roll extravaganza.

Originally formed in Austin, Texas, as Onyx, a female fronted sleaze/glam outfit. When conflicts arose with their female singer, Scott Dalhover (guitar), Mike Watson (bass) and Mark Geary (drums) recruited Watchtower front man Jason McMaster and quickly changed the name to Dangerous Toys. Guitarist Danny Aaron joined the band shortly after recording of the debut. They toned down their early outrageous image, and unleashed a debut album filled with catchy, blues infused metal laced with sexual lyrics.

The debut would go gold, but that would be as big as they got. For the third album, Pissed (arguably their shining moment), they were on an independent label, and had a new guitarist in Paul Lidel of Dirty Looks. For the fourth and final studio release, Watson had left and McMaster took on the bass duties (Michael Hannon ex-Salty Dog filled in on bass shortly in 1994), however this album would be a huge disappointment as the band tried to update their sound and alienated their fan base in the process.

History (Edit)

Over the years members have worked on various side projects, with McMaster being the busiest. He has fronted such bands as Broken Teeth (featuring Lidel), Gahdzilla Motor Company, the Kiss tribute band SSIK and several others. Lidel also released an album with 20 lb.

Buzz before morphing into a covers band called The Buzz while Dalhover formed Monster Rodd in 2003. In 2005 Dangerous Toys reunited to celebrate their 18th anniversary and while their future may not be bright, the odd reunion should keep their fans satisfied.
